3 Day Uluru Adventure Camping (starts Uluru & ends Alice Springs)

Additional Information

This is a camping trip for those who are looking for the basics. Simple facilities and lack of emphasis on creature comforts make this an authentic experience of the Australian outback. Each trip has an expert local leader, and plenty of free time for optional extras. We camp at permanent campsites with swags and sleeping bags and nearby shared bathroom facilities. Tents may be permanently erected twin or quad share, you may need to erect your own pop up tent or roll out a swag (Aussie bedroll) to sleep under the stars. We provide simple camp mattresses and recommend either BYO travel pillow or use rolled up towel or clothing. We travel in a range of private vehicles from 4WD trucks in the Top End, to comfortable overland vehicles through the Red Centre. The perfect option for a ‘no frills’ trip.

Depending on the tour/campground there will be a sheltered BBQ area for preparing meals and you must be prepared to assist with food preparation, dish washing, collecting firewood etc - plus helping keep the campsite clean and tidy for the next group of travellers. The interactive nature of these tours is a key component to getting more in touch with nature and the Australian culture – the more you put in the more you get out! These tours tend to appeal to active travellers who aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty.

Enjoy an night dingin under the stars and in the open air at our 1,000 Star Dinner.

Day 1: Yulara to Uluru (Ayers Rock)

This afternoon we set out to boulder-strewn landscape of Kata Tjuta (The Olgas). Wandering through the site’s gullies and crevices, you’ll learn a little about the area’s geological and ecological significance from your guide. Day 2: Uluru sunrise

It’s an early rise today but seeing Australia is what you came for, right? After watching a fiery outback sun rear up over the world’s biggest rock get a real sense of the rock’s scale on an unguided walk around its base. After your stroll, we walk to the cave paintings near Mutitjulu Waterhole at the base of Uluru. You will be in the hands of an Anangu guide who will share the stories of this unique landscape and explain the Art, the Culture and connection to Land. This exclusive experience will give you an exclusive insight to the meaning behind Anangu art and traditional culture. The on-site Cultural Centre also houses an extensive collection of indigenous arts and crafts for you to browse. Tonight we spend the night in an exclusive campsite in Watarrka National Park.

Day 3: Kings Canyon rim walk

While Kings Canyon is only one of the many attractions within Watarrka National Park, Kings is so impressive that more people know it than the park. After a quick breakfast, we’ll venture into the canyon and start the Rim Walk. Beginning in the vast natural Amphitheatre (where you’re free to test out the acoustics), we’ll enter upon the Lost City and descend down into the fern-shaded rock pools of the Garden of Eden. A visit to the imposing North and South Walls is another must before lunch. Then we drive on to Alice Springs, a relative metropolis in these surroundings, for goodbyes.

Note: Total driving time takes around five hours. Total walking time is approximately three hours.

Note: Should any of the attractions of the standard itinerary not be open as a result of National Park decisions surrounding accessibility and safety, activities will be substituted.
